Local Landlord scheme successful

Councillor Salim Lorgat, Liberal Democrat Executive Member for Housing has hailed the recently introduced Licensing Scheme for private landlords a success.

Cllr Lorgat said,"The scheme has been running successfully in Central Darwen since June 2009. We are working with local communities to improve their quality of life and one of the things they are concerned about is private sector landlord properties. We are working with private landlords to help them understand their responsibility in helping to deal with problems in neighbourhoods."

The scheme is aimed at ensuring all rented properties are well managed and landlords take responsibility for their tenants.
