Inflation rate down

UK consumer price inflation fell to 2.4% in April, down from 2.8% in March.

Falling transport costs, including air fares, saw the consumer prices index (CPI) fall for the first time since September 2012.

The rate of Retail Prices Index (RPI) inflation, which includes housing costs, fell to 2.9% in April from 3.3% in March.
