Extra £860,000 given to Blackburn with Darwen for Education

The government has announced they are giving extra money to local authorities for education. Blackburn with Darwen will receive an extra £863,677 in addition to almost £1.5 million pounds already given for 2011/12.

Commenting on the announcement, Liberal Democrat Group Leader, Cllr David Foster said "This extra money is welcomed and is a recognition of the needs of the Borough. This means that £2.3 million pounds will be given to Blackburn with Darwen for Capital funding. This is in addition to £2.8 million for maintenance - a grand total of over £5 million."
