Liberal Democrat Candidate for Earcroft - John East

Darwen Liberal Democrats have chosen their two candidates to contest the by election in the earcroft Ward on July 15. The 2 candidates are John East and Anthony (Tony) Melia.

The by-election was caused by the sad death of the Mayor Councillor Michael Barrett, who was a candidate in the election that should have been held on June 10th.

Both candidates are will known in the area.

The current state of the parties on Blackburn with Darwen Council is:

Conservatives.........17

Liberal Democrats..12

Independents......... 6

in Darwen itself the situation is:
